Nasty C Admits His Stage Name Was Made Up — Plans To Switch To ‘Ivyson

South African rapper Nsikayesizwe David Junior Ngcobo — better known as  — recently made headlines with a surprising confession: his stage name has no real meaning. In an interview with Madame Joyce in London, he revealed that the story he used to tell fans about the origin of Nasty C was fabricated.

He explained that the name wasn’t carefully chosen or symbolic — just a random assortment of letters that he liked. The tale he once shared about being called “Nasty Cat” by his first producer, and later modifying that, was something he made up to have a story around his name — he admitted it was a lie.

Nasty C also said he intends to change his stage name. He has his eyes on Ivyson, a name inspired by his late mother, Ivy. He says that this new name would be more meaningful and a better represention of his identity as he grows in his career.
